Hey folks, just wanted to drop a quick post sharing my experience setting up the Aqara M1S Hub with Home Assistant — turns out it’s smoother than I expected!
So I’m fairly new to this whole smart home rabbit hole, but once I got my hands on the M1S, I knew I wanted everything under one roof with HA. After poking around forums and hitting a few walls, I finally got the whole thing ticking reliably.
What helped me big time: using the HomeKit Controller integration in Home Assistant. Yup, no MQTT or hacking Zigbee stuff — just Ethernet+HomeKit. Make sure your M1S is on the same network, reset it to pairing mode, and boom — Home Assistant picks it right up. From there, sensors just start showing up. I was amazed how plug-and-play it felt.
Now I’ve got my doors, motion sensors, and temp/humidity reports showing up on a slick dashboard. No lag, no drama.
Anyone else using their M1S with Home Assistant like this? Curious if you’ve run into any limitations or have tips to push it further — thinking of going full automation soon!
Let me know, happy to compare notes!
