Hey everyone, I just got my Echo Show 5 3rd generation and wanted to share my setup experience. First off, I decided to set it up at a different location from my main setup, which was a bit of a challenge but totally doable. The process was pretty straightforward, but I thought I’d jot down a few tips for anyone else going through the same thing.
One thing I noticed is the importance of a stable internet connection. I tried setting it up in a room with weaker Wi-Fi signal initially, and the setup kept getting interrupted. Moving it closer to my router made a world of difference. If you’re having trouble with the setup, double-check your Wi-Fi signal strength!
Another thing I wanted to mention is the display quality. The Echo Show 5 has a crisp 5.0-inch screen, which is perfect for checking the weather, viewing photos, or even using it as a security camera with Ring integration. Speaking of Ring cameras, I had a bit of trouble viewing multiple cameras at first. It turns out, you need to update the app and ensure all your cameras are properly renamed and linked in the Alexa app. A quick restart of the Echo Show and the app fixed that issue for me.
I also wanted to touch on the voice commands. The Echo Show 5 responds really well to voice commands, and I love how it can control my smart home devices seamlessly. However, I did experience a minor glitch where it kept repeating a shopping notification. To fix this, I had to manually delete the notifications through the Alexa app. It was a bit of a nuisance, but it only happened once.
Lastly, I thought I’d share a fun tip. If you’re using the Echo Show in a room with ambient lighting, adjusting the display brightness settings can make it more comfortable to use during different times of the day. I set mine to automatically adjust based on the time, and it’s made a big difference in how I interact with it.
Overall, I’m really happy with the Echo Show 5. It’s versatile, user-friendly, and has definitely added to my smart home setup. If you’re considering getting one, I highly recommend it!
Happy smart home tweaking everyone!
