Efficient Energy Monitoring with Victron and Home Assistant

Hello everyone, I wanted to share my experience with integrating my Victron system into Home Assistant. It’s been a fantastic journey, and I’m excited to walk you through how I set it up and the benefits I’ve noticed.

First, I’ll start by talking about the components I have in place. I’ve got a Multiplus II, a Cerbo GX, and a Fronius AC coupled inverter. These are all connected via Modbus to ensure seamless communication. The Carlo Gavazzi EM24 meter is also part of the setup, providing crucial data on energy consumption and production.

One of the challenges I faced initially was getting all the data to display correctly in Home Assistant’s Energy Dashboard. I had to experiment with different sensor configurations and ensure that the data from each component was accurately reflected. For instance, I set up sensors for grid consumption, solar production, and battery power, making sure each had the correct unit of measurement and state class.

After some trial and error, I managed to get everything working smoothly. The Energy Dashboard now gives me a clear picture of my energy usage, solar production, and battery health. It’s incredibly satisfying to see all this information consolidated in one place.

I’d love to hear from others who are also using Victron systems with Home Assistant. Have you encountered any unique challenges or discovered any tips that might help others? Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other optimize our setups!

Cheers,
