I wanted to share a really handy setup I’ve been using with Hive and Alexa. It’s been making my life so much easier! I’ve always loved the idea of voice control for heating, and now it’s a seamless part of my daily routine.
Here’s how I did it: I set up an input_boolean called ‘heating’ in my configuration.yaml. This acts as a toggle switch. Then, I created two automations—one for turning the heating on and another for turning it off. When I say, ‘Alexa, turn on heating,’ it sets the temperature to 20 degrees and switches to heat mode. And when I say, ‘Alexa, turn off heating,’ it lowers the temperature and turns the heating off.
This setup has been a game-changer for me. It’s so convenient to control the heating without even lifting a finger. Plus, it’s great for energy efficiency since I can easily switch it off when I don’t need it.
If anyone else is looking to simplify their heating control, I’d be happy to help you set this up! It’s a small tweak that makes a big difference. ![]()
