Encouraging Piano Practice with Smart Automation

As a parent, I’m always looking for ways to make daily routines easier, especially when it comes to encouraging my kids to practice their piano. I’ve recently set up a smart switch to disable the TV during certain times, but I wanted to take it a step further by rewarding my kids with TV time after they practice for 10 minutes.

Here’s how I approached it: I connected the smart switch to my home automation system and created a rule that enables the TV for 1 hour after detecting 10 minutes of piano practice. The challenge was measuring the practice time accurately. I ended up using a motion sensor near the piano to detect activity, which works surprisingly well!

This setup has turned piano practice into a positive experience for my kids, and it’s been a great way to incorporate technology into our daily routine. If anyone has tips on making this system more efficient or has tried something similar, I’d love to hear about it! :musical_keyboard::sparkles:
