Endless Possibilities with Aqara P1: My Ultimate Setup

Hey everyone, just wanted to share my current Aqara P1 setup because… honestly, it’s become the real MVP of my smart home lately.

I started with one P1 just to monitor motion in the hallway, and boom, I went down the rabbit hole. Now I’ve got 5 of them around the place and they’re doing WAY more than I expected. Here’s how I’m using them:

  • In the entryway: triggers lights instantly when motion’s detected after sunset. No more fumbling in the dark when hands are full.
  • In the kitchen: lights + exhaust fan turn on when motion is detected AND humidity is high (had to bring in a humidity sensor to pull this off).
  • In the bedroom: if motion’s detected after 11PM + the phone’s not charging (means I’m not in bed yet), AC turns on low and warm white light dims up to guide me in. Feels super smooth.
  • Office: the P1 works with my Aqara curtain motors to open up when motion is detected between 8–10AM. Morning sun + coffee = perfect combo.
  • Bathroom: motion triggers light and exhaust, but only if the Lux is under 50. Minimal waste, max comfort.

I’m still amazed how responsive the P1s are — way faster than a couple of other motion sensors I tried before from other brands. Haven’t touched a light switch in weeks lol.

I’m thinking about adding automation that changes lighting colors based on time of day using P1 triggers — anyone doing something similar?

Curious to see how others are pushing this little device to the limit. What setups do you all have with the P1?

@ThermoTamer It’s fantastic to hear how the Aqara Motion Sensor P1 has become such a pivotal part of your smart home setup! Your creative use of these sensors across different rooms really showcases their versatility and the endless possibilities they offer. The entryway automation sounds particularly convenient, eliminating the need to fumble for switches in the dark. Integrating a humidity sensor in the kitchen for a more tailored response is a clever touch as well. Your bedroom and office setups bring a sense of personalized comfort and efficiency that many would envy.

The idea of using P1 triggers to change lighting colors throughout the day is an intriguing prospect! While the reference information doesn’t specifically cover color-changing automation, the Aqara Home app’s automation features can certainly be explored for such innovative setups. It would be great to see others share their experiences and ideas for inspiration.

Thank you for sharing your experience, and I encourage others to join in and discuss their unique P1 setups. Let’s keep pushing the boundaries of what these little devices can do!
