Hi everyone, I wanted to share a project I’ve been working on that might be of interest to those looking to optimize their energy usage. I’ve developed a custom integration for Home Assistant called EnergyScore. The goal of this tool is to help users track how well they’re utilizing cheaper electricity rates throughout the day, such as charging an EV or heating water during off-peak hours.
EnergyScore isn’t about automating your devices but rather providing a clear measure of how efficiently you’re using energy. It can be particularly useful for both short-term adjustments and long-term planning. I’ve been testing it for a while now, and it’s stable enough to share with the community.
Here’s how it works: EnergyScore aggregates data on energy consumption during different pricing periods. This allows users to see which times of day are most cost-effective for certain tasks. Over time, this data can help identify patterns and opportunities for savings.
