Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience with setting up a smart bathroom automation system. It’s been a fun project, and I’d love to hear your thoughts or tips on improving it further!
So, here’s the setup: I have regular ceiling lights, an LED strip in a niche, a Shelly relay, and a motion sensor. My goal was to create a seamless lighting experience that adapts to different times of the day and user presence.
Initially, I had the ceiling lights set to turn on with motion and off after 1 minute of inactivity. That worked well, but adding the LED strip introduced a new layer of complexity. I wanted the LED strip to:
- Turn on at 8:00 PM and off at midnight.
- Stay on if motion is detected after 9:00 PM, even if the ceiling lights turn off.
- Activate alongside the ceiling lights during the day and turn off after 1 minute of no motion.
After some trial and error, I managed to create an automation that covers these scenarios. The key was using time-based conditions and ensuring the motion sensor resets the timer when triggered. It’s been working smoothly for a week now, and it’s amazing how much it enhances the bathroom experience!
One thing I’d love to improve is fine-tuning the motion sensor’s sensitivity to avoid false triggers. If anyone has tips on that, I’d appreciate it! Also, I’m curious if others have implemented similar systems and what adjustments they found necessary.
This project has really shown me the potential of integrating multiple smart devices to create a cohesive and user-friendly environment. I’d love to hear about your experiences and any innovative solutions you’ve come up with!
Best regards,
