I wanted to create an ambiance that adapts seamlessly to the mood of the moment—whether it’s a cozy movie night, a vibrant game night, or a festive celebration. The goal was to integrate Govee RGB lights with a simple automation setup to achieve this versatility.
The Setup
I started by installing a series of Govee RGB strips around our entertainment area. These strips, known for their vibrant colors and smooth transitions, were the perfect choice. To control them, I utilized a Node-RED flow integrated with Home Assistant. This allowed me to create preset scenes for different occasions:
- Movie Night Mode: Dimmed lights with a warm glow to create an intimate cinematic experience.
- Game Night Mode: Bright, dynamic colors that sync with the energy of the games.
- Fiesta Mode: A lively mix of colors that match the festive spirit.
The Automation
To make it even more user-friendly, I set up voice controls using Alexa. Now, all it takes is a simple voice command like, “Alexa, turn on Movie Night Mode”, and the lights automatically adjust to the perfect setting. This integration has not only simplified things but also added an element of fun for everyone involved.
