Enhancing Home Automation with Improved Automation Management

As someone who has been diving into the world of home automation, I must say, it’s truly a game-changer! The ability to automate routines and streamline daily tasks has made life so much more convenient. However, as I continue to explore and experiment with my setup, I’ve noticed a few areas where improvements could really enhance the user experience.

One feature I’ve been particularly interested in is automation management. While creating and scheduling automations is straightforward, managing them once they’re set up can be a bit cumbersome. For instance, renaming an automation requires opening it, editing the name, saving, and then closing— a process that feels a bit too involved for such a simple task. I believe adding a direct rename option through the three-dot menu would save a lot of time and make the interface more intuitive.

Another point of interest is the enable/disable functionality. Previously, there was a handy toggle at the beginning of each automation in the list view, which made it incredibly quick to toggle an automation on or off. Unfortunately, this feature seems to have been moved to the far right of the page, requiring an extra click to access. Bringing back the toggle to the front would streamline the process and make managing automations much more efficient.

Lastly, changing the entity associated with an automation currently feels a bit disjointed compared to how it’s done for devices or sensors. Simplifying this process would allow for quicker adjustments and a more seamless experience overall.

These are just a few thoughts based on my journey with home automation. I’m excited to see how the community and developers continue to improve these features, making automation even more accessible and user-friendly for everyone!
