Exploring the world of home automation has been an exciting journey, especially with Z-Wave dimmers and smart lighting solutions. I recently set up a group of Z-Wave dimmer switches that support a ‘double tap’ action, aiming to create a seamless automation experience. My goal was to trigger specific actions when these dimmers are double-tapped, such as adjusting the brightness of connected lights. However, I encountered a challenge in associating the Z-Wave device ID with the correct entity in my entity group. After some research, I realized the importance of iterating through entities and matching device IDs accurately. This experience highlighted the need for a deeper understanding of automation scripting and Jinja2 code, which I’m now actively working on. I’m eager to share my progress and learn from others who have tackled similar projects. The journey continues, and I’m excited to see how these automations will enhance my daily life!
