Hi everyone,
I’ve been diving into the world of smart lighting lately, and I wanted to share my experience and some tips for those who might be looking to enhance their home lighting setup. I’ve been using a combination of Govee LED lights and Shelly dimmers, and it’s been a fantastic journey!
My Setup Journey
I started with a basic setup, using Govee LED strips for ambient lighting and Shelly dimmers to control them. Initially, I was blown away by how easy it was to set everything up using the Govee app. The DIY feature in the app allowed me to create some really cool color chases and transitions, which I’ve been experimenting with during the weekends.
However, I quickly realized that static lighting had its own charm. I love how a well-thought-out static setup can create a warm and inviting atmosphere, especially during dinner or casual gatherings. I’ve been playing around with different color combinations—using cooler tones for a fresh vibe and warmer tones for a cozy feel.
A Small Challenge
One thing I encountered was the need to adjust the transition times for certain lights. I was surprised to find that the Hue binding didn’t have an option for custom transition times. After some research, I discovered that this is a known limitation, but I’m hopeful that it will be addressed in future updates. In the meantime, I’ve been using a workaround by adjusting the scenes manually to achieve the desired effect.
Tips for Others
If you’re just starting out, I’d recommend experimenting with different lighting scenarios. Whether it’s setting up a relaxing evening mode or a vibrant party scene, the key is to find what works best for your space. Also, don’t hesitate to mix and match different brands if they offer features that complement each other. For example, combining Govee’s vibrant colors with Shelly’s reliable controls has been a great combination for me.
Looking Ahead
I’m really excited about the upcoming Govee Colorful Friday event! It’s a fantastic initiative that showcases the creative potential of smart lighting. I’ve already got some ideas for new color schemes and transitions to try out.
If anyone has tips or experiences to share about their smart lighting setups, I’d love to hear them! Let’s keep the conversation going and inspire each other to create even more amazing home lighting experiences.
Cheers,
