Hello fellow smart home enthusiasts! I’ve been diving into the world of Z-Wave devices lately, particularly focusing on optimizing my smart lighting setup. I recently installed a batch of Jasco UltraPro In-Wall Smart Dimmers, which are designed to work seamlessly with LED bulbs. While the integration with my SmartThings ecosystem has been mostly smooth, I’ve encountered an interesting challenge that I thought I’d share and explore with the community.
The issue I’m facing is with the dimming control. Some of my LED lights completely turn off at around 21% brightness when adjusting them via the wall switch, making it tricky to achieve a softer, dimmer setting without the lights shutting off entirely. This behavior is inconsistent across all my bulbs, which is a bit puzzling. I’ve been experimenting with different Edge Drivers to see if switching to a beta version could offer finer control, but so far, the results have been mixed.
What I’d love to find is an Edge Driver that allows for a ‘floor’ setting, say 22%, preventing both the wall dimmer and the app from dipping below that threshold. This would ensure a consistent and frustration-free dimming experience. I’m curious if anyone else has encountered similar issues or has found a workaround or a specific driver that addresses this problem effectively.
On a more positive note, I’ve been thoroughly impressed with the integration capabilities of Z-Wave devices. The ability to automate lighting schedules and adjust settings remotely has transformed my daily routine. It’s these small hiccups, however, that remind me how much there still is to learn and optimize in the smart home space. I’m hopeful that with some trial and error, or perhaps a helpful tip from the community, I can refine my setup to be even more seamless.
If anyone has insights, recommendations, or success stories regarding fine-grained dimmer control, I’d love to hear them! Let’s continue to explore and enhance our smart environments together. ![]()
