Epson Printer Automation & Maintenance Tips

Hey everyone, I’ve been exploring ways to streamline my Epson Workforce ET-4550 printer usage, especially since we only use it every couple of weeks. The print head tends to clog up after periods of inactivity, which can be frustrating when we finally need to print something. I’ve heard that if left unused for too long, the print head might even become permanently clogged. That’s a real concern!

I’ve been wondering if it’s possible to automate a small print job every few days to keep the print head from drying out. I know Home Assistant is great for automations, but I’m not sure if this specific task is feasible with the Epson integration, which currently only provides status updates and tank levels. Has anyone successfully set up something similar? Any tips or workarounds would be super helpful!

In the meantime, I’ve been manually running the print head cleaning routine every time we use the printer. It’s a bit of a hassle, but it works for now. I’d love to hear if others have found a more automated solution or have any maintenance tips to share. Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other out!

Cheers,
