Eufy Indoor Cam E220 Sound Notifications and Alternative Solutions

Hi everyone, I wanted to share my experience with the Eufy Indoor Cam E220 and discuss some alternative solutions I’ve explored. I purchased this camera primarily for monitoring my dog while I’m away, and I was really excited about its HomeKit Secure Video compatibility. However, after setting it up, I quickly realized that there was no way to enable sound notifications through HomeKit. This was a major disappointment because I rely on these notifications to know when my dog is barking or if there’s any unusual activity in the house.

I did some research and discovered that sound notifications are disabled if the camera is linked to HomeKit. This means I had to choose between using the Eufy app for notifications or keeping the camera integrated with HomeKit. Neither option was ideal for me, so I started looking for alternative solutions.

One option I explored was using two separate devices—one for live viewing and another for sound notifications. I found that the Eufy app itself offers reliable notifications, but I still wanted the convenience of integrating everything into my HomeKit ecosystem. After some trial and error, I decided to stick with the Eufy app for notifications and use the camera’s live view feature through the app. While it’s not perfect, it works for my needs.

I also came across some third-party solutions and integrations that claim to offer better compatibility with HomeKit, but many of them require additional hardware or complex setups. I’m still on the lookout for a more seamless integration that offers both live viewing and sound notifications without compromising on security or convenience.

If anyone has found a better solution or has tips on how to make the most out of their Eufy camera or similar devices, I’d love to hear about it! Let’s keep the discussion going and help each other find the best setup for our smart homes.
