Hi everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience with the Eurotronics Spirit heating regulator and the challenges I faced with the child-safe mode setting. After updating my system and transitioning to a custom .items file, I noticed that the child-safe mode option was no longer available in PaperUI. This was quite frustrating, especially since I had previously relied on this feature to ensure safety around my home.
I spent considerable time troubleshooting, including deleting and re-adding the device, updating OpenHAB snapshots, and even inspecting the XML configuration files. The key breakthrough came when I revisited the channel responsible for the child-safe mode and ensured it was correctly included in my .items file. After several attempts and some trial and error, I managed to restore the child-safe mode functionality.
This experience taught me the importance of carefully reviewing device configurations, especially when transitioning between auto-created and custom setups. It also highlighted the value of the OpenHAB community, where sharing challenges and solutions can benefit others facing similar issues.
