Just got my new video doorbell installed the other day, and I’m really excited about it! It’s been a game-changer for keeping an eye on who’s at the door without having to physically check. The integration with Alexa has been seamless, but I’ve noticed something interesting. On the Alexa app, the device type shows up as “doorbell” instead of “camera” like my Ring doorbell does. Because of this, I can’t actually watch the live video feed on my Echo Show—it just acts as a chime. I’ve tried enabling announcements, but that only gives me the audio without the video feed. There’s also no option to manually view the doorbell feed, even though all my other Wyze cameras work perfectly on the Echo Show using Alexa. Is this a known issue? I couldn’t find any existing topics on this, so I hope this isn’t a duplicate!
I’ve tried modifying the device type on Alexa, but it doesn’t seem possible. I was wondering if anyone else has encountered this and if there’s a workaround or solution. It would be amazing if there was a way to switch the device type or at least view the video feed directly from Alexa. I’m really enjoying the doorbell overall, but having the video integration would make it even better!
If anyone has any insights or tips, I’d love to hear them. Thanks in advance for your help!
