Hi everyone! I’ve been diving into some exciting smart home automation ideas lately, and I wanted to share a few of the coolest tricks I’ve come across. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just starting out, these tips might spark some inspiration for your own setup!
1. Garage Door Status with Reed Switches
One of my favorite recent discoveries is how to integrate two reed switches into a garage door cover template in Home Assistant. By using a Sonoff Dual to control the up and down states, I can now easily visualize the door’s position in my UI. It’s a simple yet effective way to ensure I always know whether the door is open or closed. If anyone has tips on refining this setup, I’d love to hear them!
2. Time-Based Camera Tracking
I’ve been experimenting with the Wyze Cam Pan v3’s “Track Motion” feature. While it’s fantastic during the day for keeping an eye on family members, it becomes a bit too sensitive at night, chasing after every bug. I’m curious if there’s a way to automate the enabling and disabling of this feature based on the time of day. If not, submitting a feature request for future firmware updates might be a great idea!
3. A Touch of Gratitude
I wanted to take a moment to thank the incredible team behind Wyze for their continuous innovation and commitment to quality. Their recent updates have truly elevated the user experience, and I’m thrilled to see the direction they’re heading in. Keep up the fantastic work!
4. Group Dimming Smoothness
For those of you using Zigbee group dimming, I’ve noticed an interesting behavior where the slider occasionally jumps back and forth. It’s a minor nuisance, but I’m curious if others are experiencing this as well. Any insights or solutions would be greatly appreciated!
If you’ve stumbled upon any cool automation hacks or have questions about specific setups, I’d love to hear about them! Let’s keep the creativity flowing and make our smart homes even smarter!
