I’m really excited to share some of the latest updates and tips I’ve discovered in the world of smart homes! ![]()
First off, the news that SmartThings has joined the Zigbee Alliance is huge! This means even more seamless integration between devices, and I can’t wait to see how this expands the possibilities for my setup. ![]()
On the automation front, I’ve been experimenting with creating routines that adapt to my daily schedule. For instance, I set up my lights to dim slightly during movie nights and crank up the thermostat a bit when it’s cold outside. It’s all about making life a bit more comfortable without lifting a finger! ![]()

One thing I’ve been particularly impressed with is how voice assistants like Alexa and Google Home can integrate with smart devices. I recently set up a routine where saying, “Hey Google, good night,” turns off all my lights and locks the doors. It’s little touches like these that really make a home feel smart! ![]()

I also wanted to share a tip for anyone struggling with device connectivity. If you’re having trouble with a device showing as unavailable, try adjusting the unavailable interval in your hub settings. I bumped mine up from 600 to 3600 seconds, and it’s made a world of difference in reducing false unavailable alerts. ![]()
