Experiencing Slow Response Times with Zigbee Devices

Hey everyone, I’ve been exploring the world of smart home automation and recently set up a few Zigbee devices around my home. While I’m absolutely thrilled with the potential of this technology, I’ve been running into some issues that I’d love to get some advice on.

Over the past week, I’ve noticed that my Zigbee devices, specifically some IKEA Tradfri lights and switches, are responding much slower than I’d expect. For example, when I press a switch to turn on a light, it can take up to a second or two for the light to respond. This delay is a bit frustrating, especially when I’m trying to create smooth automations.

I’ve also noticed that some devices don’t seem to be communicating directly with each other. For instance, I have a dimmer switch and a light bulb that are both Zigbee-compatible, but instead of responding instantly when I adjust the dimmer, it seems like the signal has to go through my SmartThings hub first. This adds to the delay and makes the whole setup feel less seamless.

I’d love to understand if this is a common issue with Zigbee integration in SmartThings or if there’s something I can do to improve the response times. Do other users experience similar delays? Is there a way to configure the devices to communicate more efficiently without relying on the hub for every command?

On a more positive note, I’ve been really impressed with how customizable the system is. The ability to create routines and automations is fantastic, and I can already see how this could make my home much more convenient in the long run. It’s just these little hiccups that are keeping me from fully embracing the technology.

If anyone has tips or tricks for optimizing Zigbee device performance or speeding up response times, I’d be incredibly grateful! Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other make the most out of our smart home setups.

Cheers,
