Exploring Advanced Automation with Routines

Hey everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation lately, and it’s been a fascinating journey! I started with using modes to control my lights, but now that I’ve switched to routines, I’m curious about how to achieve the same level of customization and scheduling.

I remember setting up modes where I could turn on lights when someone arrives and have them turn off after a set time. It was pretty straightforward and reliable for my outdoor floodlights. Now, with routines, I can easily trigger lights when someone comes home, but I’m wondering how to automate turning them off after, say, 20 minutes. Is there a simple way to incorporate timers or delays within routines?

I’ve heard about using integrations likeIFTTT or automation scripts, but I’m hoping there’s a more elegant solution directly within the platform. Maybe there’s a feature I haven’t discovered yet or a setting that allows for more nuanced control.

If anyone has tips or has successfully implemented similar automation, I’d love to hear about your setups! Whether it’s through routines, scripts, or third-party integrations, sharing experiences could help us all optimize our smart home systems.

Looking forward to learning more and maybe even discovering some new tricks to make my home even smarter! :rocket:
