Exploring August Smart Locks and Wi-Fi Hubs

I’ve been using August smart locks for a while now, and I must say, they’ve been a great addition to my home security setup. The integration with my smart home ecosystem has been seamless, and I love the convenience of being able to lock and unlock my doors from my phone or through voice commands. However, there’s one area where I’ve noticed some room for improvement: the Wi-Fi hubs.

The Wi-Fi hubs have been the most unreliable part of my August setup. I’ve experienced occasional connectivity issues, which can be a bit frustrating, especially when I’m trying to monitor my locks remotely. I’ve heard rumors about August possibly moving to Thread technology in the future, and I’m really hoping that happens. Thread’s reliability and security reputation could really elevate the August experience.

Another thing I’d love to see is replacement modules for all their “Works With August” locks. I’ve got a mix of different lock models, and it would be fantastic to have a unified solution that works seamlessly across all of them. I’m curious to know if anyone else has had similar experiences or if there are any workarounds for improving the reliability of the Wi-Fi hubs in the meantime.

Overall, August has done a great job with their smart locks, and I’m excited to see where they take the product line next. If they can address the Wi-Fi hub issues and potentially adopt Thread technology, I think they could solidify their position as a leader in the smart home security space.
