Hey everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of BLE devices lately and I must say, it’s been quite the journey. I recently came across a few BLE devices that I’d love to integrate into my smart home setup, but I’m hitting a bit of a snag with the connectivity. Let me share my experiences and maybe we can brainstorm some solutions together!
First off, I have a Mi Smart Kettle that I’ve been using with MQTT through a Raspberry Pi. It’s been working decently, but the connection isn’t as reliable as I’d like, especially when there are other BLE devices nearby or when the line of sight to the Raspberry Pi is interrupted. I’ve tried a few things to improve this, like adding more Raspberry Pis or upgrading the BLE dongle, but nothing’s been a perfect fix yet.
Another thought I had was using an Arduino as a BLE to Wi-Fi bridge. It seems cheaper and simpler compared to Raspberry Pis, but I haven’t found much information or existing projects on this. If anyone has experience with this or knows of any resources, I’d love to hear about it!
While exploring BLE solutions, I also came across some interesting ideas about stationary license plate reading with Wyze Cams. I’ve been experimenting with my Wyze Cam V2, but the license plates always end up blurry, even in perfect conditions. It’s frustrating because I’d love to have clearer images for security purposes. Has anyone else encountered this issue or found a workaround?
Switching gears, I’ve also been looking into integrating Samsung’s SmartThings with Hubitat for better control over my smart devices. Specifically, I’m trying to get my Samsung HW-Q70T soundbar to work seamlessly with my TV. The TV can control the soundbar’s volume via HDMI commands, but I want more granular control, like setting absolute volume levels. I’ve come across some community projects, but they don’t seem to support my soundbar model. Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Lastly, I’ve been following the latest updates on Google’s TV Streamer with Matter and Thread support. It sounds like a game-changer for smart home integration, offering better connectivity and control over devices like cameras, locks, and thermostats. I’m curious to hear if anyone else is planning to invest in this or has already tried it out.
This community has always been so helpful, and I’m hoping to get some insights or tips that could streamline my projects. Whether it’s about BLE connectivity, device integration, or exploring new smart home gadgets, I’m all ears! Let’s keep the discussion going and help each other navigate these exciting but sometimes tricky smart home setups. Cheers!
