Exploring Bluetooth Connectivity and Smart Device Integration

Hey everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of smart home devices lately, and I wanted to share some of my experiences and questions with you all. First off, I’ve been curious about the Bluetooth capabilities of the Amazon Echo Dot. I have a bunch of older Bluetooth devices—like some legacy speakers and even an old phone—and I’m wondering if the Echo Dot can connect to these devices seamlessly. It would be fantastic to integrate them into my smart home setup without having to upgrade everything at once. Has anyone had success with something similar?

On another note, I’ve been experimenting with smart IKEA blinds. They’ve been working like a charm for a while, but recently, they started acting up. The blinds would overextend and crease, which was a bit concerning. After some troubleshooting, I realized it was an issue with the Google Home app’s widget controls. It’s strange because voice commands worked perfectly fine. I ended up resetting the blinds multiple times, but the problem kept recurring. It’s a bit frustrating, but I’m glad I figured out the root cause. I wonder if others have encountered this or have tips to prevent it.

I also wanted to touch on UI7 firmware updates. I’ve noticed some inconsistencies with roller shutters and their reported positions. For instance, when I set the shutter to 20%, it should stay there, but after a device poll, it reports as 100% without any movement. It’s a bit confusing and could be a bug in the firmware. I’d love to hear if others are experiencing similar issues or if there’s a workaround.

Lastly, I’ve been trying to figure out the best way to integrate LED strips into my smart home setup. I purchased some SMD 5050 LEDs, but they’re labeled differently from what I expected. The pins are VIN, G, G, DI, which has me a bit puzzled. I’m hoping to control them via ESPHome or a smart controller like Flux. Any advice on identifying the chipset or configuring them properly would be a lifesaver!

Overall, it’s been a mix of triumphs and challenges, but I’m learning so much along the way. I’d love to hear your thoughts, experiences, or tips on these topics. Let’s keep the conversation going!
