Exploring Camera Automation Ideas for Home Monitoring

Hi everyone, I’ve been really interested in exploring how to use my Wyze cameras for more than just basic surveillance. I’ve got a couple of cameras set up around the house, and while they’re great for keeping an eye on things, I feel like there’s so much more potential to tap into.

One idea that’s been floating around in my head is using the cameras to create a sort of motion-activated obstacle course for guests or even kids. Imagine setting up multiple cameras with motion sensors in a grid pattern—could that work? I tried talking about this with a friend, and they thought it could be a fun way to add some interactivity to the home security system. But then, we realized the delay in the Orbit controller might make it impractical. Still, it’s been a fun thought experiment!

Another thing I’ve been curious about is using cameras to monitor specific areas more effectively. For example, I have a camera set up in my backyard to keep an eye on my pets. It would be awesome if I could set up some rules where the camera automatically adjusts its angle or alerts me when certain movements are detected. Does anyone have experience with something like that?

I’d also love to hear about any clever automation ideas others have come up with using their cameras. Whether it’s for security, convenience, or just plain fun, I’m all ears! If you’ve got any tips or tricks, please share—I’m always looking for ways to make my home smarter and more efficient.

Thanks for reading, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts!
