Exploring Camera Functionality in Cabo San Lucas

Hi everyone, I’m currently exploring the functionality of my security cameras in Cabo San Lucas, BCS Mexico. I’ve noticed some interesting behaviors with my Wyze cameras, particularly regarding their performance without an internet connection. I’m curious if anyone else has had similar experiences or has tips for optimizing their setup.

I’ve been using my Wyze cameras for a while now, and they’ve been a great addition to my home security. However, I recently realized that I might not be able to connect to them later if I don’t have a stable internet connection. This got me thinking about best practices for setting up cameras in areas where internet reliability is a concern.

I’ve tried setting up my cameras using my home Wi-Fi, but I’m wondering if there’s a way to ensure they can connect to a mobile hotspot or other temporary internet sources. I’ve also noticed that my Ring camera and Symynelec camera are detected by my Echo, but only the Ring camera offers person or package detection. I’m curious why the Symynelec camera doesn’t offer the same features and if there’s a workaround for this.

Another issue I’ve encountered is with my Shelly Uni device. I’ve been trying to integrate it with my home phone system, but the phone doesn’t have a traditional ringer—it uses a speaker instead. I’ve tried connecting the sensor to the speaker, but it hasn’t made much of a difference. I’m wondering if there’s a way to modify the signal from the speaker or if I need a different device altogether.

I’ve also been exploring notification systems for my smart home setup. I’ve tested several options, including Pushover, Twilio, and SendGrid, and I’ve found Twilio to be the most reliable for my needs. It’s great because it works even when my phone is on Do Not Disturb. I’m curious if others have had similar experiences or if there are other notification services worth considering.

Lastly, I’m looking into ventilation units and their compatibility with OpenHAB. I’ve had some issues with fan modes not being recognized, and I’m wondering if there’s a fix or workaround for this. I’ve tried resetting the unit and rebuilding the Z-Wave network, but the problem persists.

I’d love to hear from anyone who has tackled these issues or has advice on optimizing their smart home setup. Let’s keep the conversation going!
