Hi everyone! [
] I’ve been really excited about getting my SmartThings hub set up this week. One of the main things I wanted to do was integrate some cameras into my smart home setup, but I’m a bit overwhelmed by all the options out there.
Currently, I have two Wyze Cams outside my house, and they’ve been working okay, but I really want to take advantage of the automation features that SmartThings offers. I’ve heard that integrating cameras with ST can allow you to trigger routines based on motion detection or other events, which sounds amazing!
The first thing I’m wondering is whether it’s possible to integrate my existing Wyze Cams into ST so I can start experimenting with routines right away. If not, I might need to look into getting some new cameras that are more compatible with ST.
Another thing I’m considering is getting a camera for my daughter’s room. I’ve heard mixed things about different brands—some people swear by Arlo or Ring, but I’ve also read that there can be compatibility issues or less-than-stellar support for certain devices. I’m not sure if I should go with a budget-friendly option and skip ST integration for this camera, or if it’s worth investing in a higher-quality camera that plays nicely with ST.
I’d love to hear from anyone who has experience with camera integration into SmartThings. What brands and models have worked well for you? Are there any specific features or gotchas I should be aware of? Also, if anyone has tips on setting up routines with cameras, that would be super helpful!
I’m really looking forward to diving into this and seeing how I can make my home even smarter. Thanks in advance for any advice or recommendations you can share! [
