Hi everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation lately, and I wanted to share some of my experiences and questions with the community.
First, I’ve been experimenting with Wyze cameras for outdoor surveillance. While they’ve worked well for the most part, I’ve noticed that the motion detection has become less reliable over time. For instance, last week, a delivery person was at my front door for several minutes, and the camera only detected them after they left. This inconsistency is a bit concerning, especially since I’m using these cameras for security purposes. Does anyone have tips on improving motion detection accuracy, or have you experienced similar issues?
On a more positive note, I’ve successfully integrated my Wyze cameras with Home Assistant using MQTT. It’s been a great way to centralize my smart home setup. I’d love to hear if others have similar integrations or any challenges they’ve overcome during the process.
Another area I’ve been exploring is automation rules. I’ve set up routines to turn on outdoor lights when motion is detected, but I’m curious if there’s a way to make these routines more dynamic. For example, could I adjust the brightness of the lights based on the time of day or the ambient light levels? I’ve seen some examples using MQTT and Node-RED, but I’m not entirely sure how to implement this myself. Any guidance would be appreciated!
Lastly, I’ve been looking into adding fall detection to my home setup. My family has been concerned about safety, especially with elderly relatives. I’m wondering if Wyze cameras or other smart cameras on the market offer reliable fall detection features. If not, are there alternative solutions or third-party integrations that could achieve this?
I’m really enjoying the journey of building a smarter home, and I’m grateful for the supportive community here. Looking forward to your insights and experiences!
