Hey everyone! I’m really excited about the potential of integrating ESPHome with SmartThings to create a more connected home. I’ve been using both Home Assistant and SmartThings, and while I love the flexibility of ESPHome, getting it to communicate smoothly with SmartThings has been a bit of a puzzle for me.
I’ve managed to flash some Sonoff switches with ESPHome, which is fantastic, but integrating them into SmartThings has been a bit of a workaround. I’ve tried setting up a virtual switch in SmartThings and using Node-RED in Home Assistant to mirror the state, but it’s not perfect. The loop issue I’m experiencing is a bit frustrating, though the 1msg/sec rule does help mitigate it.
I’m curious if there’s a more elegant solution out there. Maybe there’s a way to configure the ESPHome YAML to communicate directly with SmartThings’ API? I’d love to hear from anyone who’s successfully bridged these two systems.
On a lighter note, I’ve been experimenting with some automations that combine both platforms, and it’s been a great learning experience. I’m hopeful that with some community input, I can find a more seamless integration method. Thanks in advance for any insights or suggestions you might have!
