I’ve been diving into the world of home automation lately, and I must say, it’s been an exciting journey! One of the tools I’ve been experimenting with is the Glances integration in Home Assistant. I was thrilled to discover how much insight it provides into my remote PC’s resources—everything from CPU usage to disk activity. However, I hit a snag when I realized not all the metrics I saw in the Glances UI were available as entities in Home Assistant. After a bit of research, I found out that while some data points are automatically integrated, others require a bit of manual setup. I decided to give it a shot and set up some REST-based sensors for the missing metrics. It was a bit of a learning curve, but the satisfaction of seeing all my desired data points in Home Assistant made it totally worth it!
Another project I’ve been working on is setting up the DSMR Reader Docker to integrate with my Homewizard P1 meter. I came across a fantastic guide that explained how to configure a plugin to read the meter’s telegrams and inject them into DSMR Reader. I followed the steps, created the necessary Python script, and adjusted my Docker setup. It was a smooth process, and I was impressed by how well everything worked out. The ability to monitor my energy consumption in real-time has been incredibly useful!
If you’re looking to enhance your home automation setup, I highly recommend exploring these integrations. Both Glances and DSMR Reader offer a wealth of features that can take your smart home to the next level. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just starting out, there’s something here for everyone.
