Exploring Google Home's Audio Resumption Feature

Hi everyone, I’ve been experimenting with integrating my Aqara door and window sensors with Google Home through Home Assistant. It’s been a fascinating journey, but I’ve encountered an interesting challenge that I’d love to discuss with the community.

Here’s the setup: When one of my Aqara sensors is triggered while the system isn’t armed, I’ve configured Home Assistant to play a 1-second local MP3 file on all my Google Home speakers. This works perfectly for alerting me to any unusual activity. However, I’ve noticed that if someone is currently listening to Spotify or TuneIn Radio on their Google Home, the audio stream doesn’t resume after the local MP3 file has finished playing. This means that the music or podcast stops after the alert, which isn’t ideal.

I’m curious if anyone else has encountered this issue or found a workaround. My initial thought is to find a way to pause the current stream temporarily and then resume it once the alert has been delivered. I’ve explored a few possibilities, such as using Home Assistant’s media player controls to pause and unpause the stream, but I haven’t had much success yet.

I’d love to hear if anyone has implemented a similar setup or has any tips on how to achieve this seamless audio resumption. Maybe there’s a clever automation or a specific service call that can make this happen. I’m also wondering if this is a known limitation with Google Home or if there’s an upcoming feature that addresses this.

In the meantime, I’ll keep experimenting with different automation flows and service calls to see if I can find a reliable solution. I’ll definitely share my findings once I crack this puzzle!

Looking forward to your insights and experiences!
