Hey everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation lately, and I wanted to share some of my experiences and tips with you all. ![]()
First off, I’ve been absolutely blown away by the Govee LED light strips. They’re not just pretty to look at—they’re incredibly versatile and easy to integrate with my existing setup. I’ve used them to create some amazing ambiance in my living room, and the color transitions are smooth and vibrant. If you’re on the fence about trying them out, I’d definitely recommend giving them a shot! ![]()
On the automation front, I’ve been experimenting with setting up rules to control my lights based on motion and time of day. It’s been a bit of a learning curve, especially figuring out how to combine rules and rule machines in SmartApps. I stumbled upon a situation where installing one seemed to require the other, and both appeared to do similar things. Has anyone else encountered this, or can shed some light on why both might be necessary? ![]()
Another thing I’ve been curious about is the integration of Hue emulators with Alexa. I’m running Home Assistant on a Google Cloud instance with a Zerotier link to keep everything local. Setting up the Hue emulator was a breeze, but I’m hitting a snag with Alexa not recognizing it properly. I suspect it might have something to do with UPnP visibility across different networks. If anyone has tackled this before, I’d love to hear your insights! ![]()
Lastly, I wanted to share a quick tip for anyone dealing with Wyze cameras and SD card issues. I recently faced a problem where my camera kept reporting the SD card as unavailable, even after a remote reboot. I discovered that using the “Eject SD card” button in the app can sometimes help reset the card without having to physically access the device. It’s a small fix, but it saved me a lot of hassle! ![]()
