Hi everyone, I’m really excited to dive into this project and share my thoughts with you! I’ve been working on a water flow meter system for our reservoir, and I stumbled upon the HC-SR05 ultrasonic sensor. It’s a great upgrade from the HC-SR04, especially since it uses a single pin for both trigger and echo, saving GPIO pins—a huge plus for my project!
I’ve ordered more sensors, but I’m eager to test this out. I’m wondering if anyone has experience using the HC-SR05 in single-pin mode with ESPHome. From what I understand, specifying the same pin for both trigger and echo should work, but I’m not entirely sure. I’ve set up my YAML file accordingly, and it validates just fine, but I’m curious if others have had success or encountered any issues.
This setup would allow me to monitor three tanks with just three GPIO pins instead of six, which would be incredibly efficient. I’m really looking forward to hearing your experiences and tips! Thanks in advance for your insights. Let’s make this project a success together!
