Hello everyone! I’m diving into the world of Home Assistant automation and I’m curious about the possibilities. I’ve been experimenting with setting up automations based on specific time frames, and I wanted to share my journey and ask for some advice.
I’ve successfully set up a few automations using the built-in templates, but I’m looking to create something a bit more complex. Specifically, I want to trigger an automation every 5 minutes, but only during a certain date range. For example, during the holiday season, I’d like to adjust my home’s lighting and heating schedules automatically. However, I’m not entirely sure how to structure the condition for the date range in the automation trigger.
I’ve tried a few approaches, like using nested automations where one automation checks the date and then triggers another every 5 minutes. While this seems logical, it feels a bit cumbersome and I’m wondering if there’s a more streamlined way to achieve this. Maybe there’s a way to use a single automation with a more sophisticated condition or a different platform altogether?
I’d love to hear from anyone who has experience with date-based automation triggers. Any tips or examples would be incredibly helpful! I’m also curious if there are best practices for handling time-based automations to ensure they run smoothly without consuming too many resources.
In the meantime, I’ll keep experimenting and document what works. It’s a learning process, and I appreciate the support from this amazing community. Thanks in advance for your insights!
