Hi everyone, I’m really excited to dive into the world of Homey and see how it can streamline my smart home setup. I’ve been using a mix of devices—Bosch, Hue, Apple HomeKit, and even Alexa—but it’s become a bit of a jumble. I’m hoping Homey can help me consolidate everything under one roof.
Currently, I have a Bosch bridge for my roller shutters, motion sensors, and smoke detectors, which I understand might need to stay separate since Bosch only plays nice with Alexa, Siri, and Hue. Then there’s my Hue setup with Philips and Ikea lights, along with some smart switches and plugs. I’ve been using iHueConnect for iOS, which is fantastic for assigning multiple tasks to my Hue switches and creating MagicScenes. I’m curious if Homey can replicate these features or offer something even better.
One of my main questions is whether I can retire all my bridges except for Bosch and just use Homey to control everything else. I’m also wondering about the integration with Apple’s Home app and Siri—how seamless is that? Plus, I’ve heard about the Homey Pro subscription—does it really offer everything I need, or are there workarounds for the free version?
Another thing I’m exploring is whether Homey can connect with my SMA solar inverter. It would be awesome to have my energy production and consumption integrated into my smart home ecosystem. I’m also curious about the learning curve—how intuitive is Homey for someone who’s relatively new to this space?
If anyone has tips on a smooth transition or has faced similar challenges, I’d love to hear your experiences. The community here seems really helpful, and I’m looking forward to learning from others who’ve made the switch to Homey!
Cheers,
Sebastian
