Exploring Hubitat for Home Automation: A User's Journey

As someone who recently dove into the world of home automation, I’ve been experimenting with Hubitat to bring some smart features into my home. While I’ve been using my Hubitat for over two years, I recently started exploring the Hubitat Smart Machine (HSM) with an Ecolink smoke/CO alarm listener. This journey has been both exciting and a bit puzzling!

I’ve been curious about how HSM works compared to Rule Machine. Is HSM a more robust partition in the system, or does it run faster with higher priority? I’d love to hear from others who have experience with HSM and how they’ve optimized their setups. Additionally, I’ve been eyeing the HSM Alert mode to trigger lights or sirens for safety alerts, but it seems this feature isn’t widely supported yet. If anyone has tips or workarounds, I’d be grateful!

On a lighter note, I’ve also been tinkering with outdoor smart switches. After two years of reliable service, my Inovelli switch finally gave out during a harsh winter. It’s been a quest to find a compatible outdoor switch that can withstand cold weather. If anyone has recommendations, I’d appreciate the insight!

Overall, my journey with Hubitat has been a mix of triumphs and challenges. I’m excited to continue exploring its capabilities and share my experiences with the community. Happy automating everyone! :rocket:
