Exploring Integration and Customization

Hi everyone,

I’ve been diving into the world of smart home integration and customization, and I wanted to share some of my experiences and questions with you all. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just starting out, I’d love to hear your thoughts!

First off, I’ve been experimenting with integrating devices from different brands. One thing that’s been on my mind is compatibility between Lutron blinds and the 2Gig system. I know that Lutron Blinds with 2GIG aren’t directly compatible, but I’m curious if anyone has had success using Clear Connect by Lutron as a workaround. If not, does anyone know if this is something that might be supported in the future? I’d love to be able to control my blinds through the app without relying on the 2Gig panel, but I’m not sure how feasible that is.

Another area I’ve been exploring is automation rules. I’ve been thinking about how to dynamically configure things within rules, especially for Z-Wave devices. For example, adjusting dimmer speeds based on whether it’s night or day, or turning off indicator lights in dark rooms to maintain a better sleep environment. I’ve tried looking into this but haven’t found much discussion. Has anyone else thought about this? What challenges have you encountered, and would you be interested in collaborating on finding solutions?

On a lighter note, I’ve also been having fun with Govee products. Their smart goose neck kettle has been a hit in our kitchen, and I love experimenting with different tea flavors. It’s amazing how technology can enhance something as simple as making tea!

I’d also like to touch on something that’s been a bit of a frustration for me. I’ve been trying to set up offline notifications for devices, but it seems like it’s not supported. I can see the online/offline status, but I’d really like the ability to send a message or trigger a routine when a device goes offline. This would be super helpful for monitoring devices in remote locations. Has anyone found a workaround for this?

Lastly, I’ve been curious about the best practices for setting up multiple hubs in a single location. I’ve heard that SmartThings disabled this feature a while back, but I’m wondering if anyone has found a way to reactivate it. It would be incredibly useful for managing separate buildings within the same property. SmartTiles provide a unified view, but it’s not quite the same as having full integration.

That’s just a few of the things I’ve been thinking about. I’d love to hear your experiences, tips, and any advice you might have. Let’s keep the conversation going!

Best regards,
