Exploring Life360 and Aeotec Integration in UK

Hi everyone, I’ve been diving into integrating some new devices into my UK-based smart home setup, and I thought I’d share my experiences and maybe pick up some tips along the way.

First off, I’ve been trying out Life360 as a way to keep track of my family’s movements. It’s listed as a supported app in my SmartThings setup, which is great, but I’m hitting a bit of a snag. I was hoping to use it to trigger events when my wife gets near home, like turning on lights or adjusting the thermostat. However, I’m stuck with a HTTP 500 error when trying to connect it. Has anyone else in the UK had success with Life360 integration, or maybe knows a workaround for this issue?

Switching gears, I’ve also been working on connecting an Aeotec Smart Strip. The setup seemed straightforward at first, but I’m running into problems getting the app to recognize it. The LEDs light up as they should when I plug it in, but the ST app just doesn’t seem to find it. I’ve installed the Device Handler from the forums and even added it via the IDE, but no luck so far. If anyone has a troubleshooting tip or a step I might have missed, I’d really appreciate it!

On a more positive note, I’ve been experimenting with my RGB WS2812 LED strip and OpenHAB. It’s been a bit of a learning curve, especially figuring out how to control it with a color picker. I combined some code snippets I found online, and after a few hiccups, I managed to get it working! It’s amazing how customizable the colors are, and it really transforms the ambiance of the room. If anyone else is looking to do something similar, I’d be happy to share the code or walk through the setup.

Lastly, I’d love to hear about others’ experiences with integrating different devices, especially if you’ve found creative ways to make things work together. The community here is fantastic, and I’m always eager to learn new tricks!

Cheers, and happy automating!
