Exploring Local Control for TP-Link Devices with SmartThings

Hi everyone, I’m diving into the world of local control for my TP-Link devices using SmartThings. I recently came across the BD LAN Drivers on GitHub and installed them on my Hub. The goal was to transition my TP-Link switches and plugs from cloud-based to local operation. While the installation went smoothly, I’m noticing that my existing TP-Link devices aren’t updating to ‘LOCAL’ operation as expected. This has me a bit puzzled, and I’m curious if anyone else has encountered this or has tips on how to force the devices to move to local control without disconnecting or deleting them from the TP-Link service.

I’ve read through some Reddit threads and forums, and it seems like others have had similar experiences. Some suggest that you might need to unlink and relink the devices, but I’m hoping there’s a cleaner way to achieve this without losing all my current configurations. If anyone has successfully done this or knows of a workaround, I’d love to hear about your approach!

It’s been a great learning experience exploring these edge drivers and local control options. I’m excited to see how I can optimize my setup further and maybe even integrate other devices in the future. Happy tinkering everyone!
