Exploring Nest Thermostat Integration with SmartThings and Lutron Caseta

Hey everyone, I’m new to the world of smart home devices and I’m currently exploring how to integrate my Nest thermostat with SmartThings and Lutron Caseta. I’ve successfully set up my Nest using the NST Manager, but I’m curious about leveraging the Lutron Caseta system I already have for my lights. From what I understand, Lutron Caseta is officially compatible with Nest, but I’m not entirely sure how to configure this integration through SmartThings. Would it allow SmartThings to adjust the Nest thermostat settings via Lutron? I’m a bit puzzled about the best approach here.

Another concern I have is regarding the security implications of installing the NST Manager. I followed the GitHub instructions to set it up, but I’m not entirely confident about all the steps involved. I want to make sure I’m not inadvertently creating a security vulnerability in my home network. It’s a bit overwhelming, but I’m really excited about the potential of having all my devices work seamlessly together.

I should also mention that I’ve migrated from Vera, and so far, SmartThings has been a breeze to set up. It only took me a couple of hours to integrate SmartThings with Lutron, Amazon Echo, Sonos, my alarm system, and of course, the Nest thermostat. But now, I’m hitting a wall with this specific integration question. Any insights or experiences you’ve had would be incredibly helpful!

Thank you in advance for your advice and tips. I’m looking forward to hearing from the community!
