Hello OpenHAB enthusiasts! I wanted to share my recent journey upgrading from OpenHAB2 to OpenHAB3 on my Raspberry Pi 4. It’s been quite an adventure, and I’m thrilled to be on the latest version now. The upgrade process, while a bit daunting at first, opened up a world of new possibilities and improvements that I’m eager to explore further. One of the standout features I’ve noticed is the enhanced support for Zigbee and Z-Wave devices. I’ve been able to seamlessly integrate my Fibaro walli roller shutters, which now operate smoothly across the house. The integration process was much smoother than I anticipated, and the reliability of these devices has been impressive. It’s wonderful to see how the Z-Wave network has become more robust, especially after pairing them with the Fibaro Home Center 3 Lite. My initial concerns about hardware compatibility have been pleasantly alleviated.Another area I’ve been exploring is the use of MQTT with Shelly devices. The ability to customize topics and transformations has given me a lot of flexibility in how I interact with my smart devices. I’ve set up a ShellyPlus1pm for my air conditioning unit, and it’s been a breeze to configure. The detailed status updates and the ability to trigger specific actions through MQTT commands have really enhanced my setup. It’s satisfying to see how these devices can be tailored to fit specific needs. On the automation front, I’ve been experimenting with creating modes based on dates. It’s a fantastic way to manage seasonal changes, like switching to holiday lighting during the festive season. The ability to automate these transitions without manual intervention is a game-changer. I’m looking forward to refining these automations further and exploring more complex scenarios.I’d love to hear from others who have undertaken similar upgrades or integrations.
