Exploring PIR Sensors and Light Automation Tips

Hello fellow smart home enthusiasts! I’ve been diving into the world of PIR sensors lately and wanted to share some of my experiences and questions.

I’ve set up PIR sensors in a room with two entrances, each equipped with its own sensor. The goal is to have both sensors control the same light. I’m curious about the best way to achieve this—whether it’s through a single rule or if I need a more complex setup, like a common timer or flag.

One concern I have is ensuring that the lights stay on as long as there’s motion detected by either sensor. If one sensor times out, I don’t want it to turn off the lights if the other sensor is still detecting motion. Any suggestions on how to handle this scenario would be greatly appreciated!

On another note, I’ve been experimenting with integrating different smart devices and have found some challenges with compatibility. For instance, getting a LIFX light to consistently stay connected to my hub has been a bit of a puzzle. I’d love to hear if anyone has tips or tricks for maintaining a stable connection.

Lastly, I’ve been exploring the use of advanced flows for more customized automation. For example, using motion sensors alongside light automation to create a seamless experience. If anyone has successfully implemented something similar or has advice for someone just starting out, I’d be thrilled to hear about it!

Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other navigate these exciting yet sometimes tricky projects. Happy automating! :rocket:
