I’m relatively new to the world of smart home automation and have been exploring various ways to enhance my setup using Homey. I’ve come across some interesting challenges and wanted to share my experiences and insights with the community.
One of the features I’ve been most intrigued by is presence detection. I’ve noticed that relying solely on the default presence detection methods can sometimes be unreliable, especially in larger homes or spaces with multiple floors. This led me to wonder if integrating iBeacon technology could provide a more consistent and accurate solution for tracking presence. I’ve read about the potential of using iBeacon APIs for this purpose, but I’m curious if anyone has successfully implemented this with Homey or if there are any limitations or considerations I should be aware of.
Another area I’ve been focusing on is motion sensor reliability. I’ve been using the SONOFF SNZB-03 motion sensors, and while they generally work well, I’ve encountered instances where the sensor fails to trigger even when movement is detected. This has been particularly frustrating, as it defeats the purpose of having an automated system. After some research, I discovered that manually refreshing the sensor or adjusting its placement can sometimes resolve the issue. However, I’m still seeking a more robust solution that doesn’t require constant intervention.
I’d love to hear from anyone who has faced similar challenges or has successfully optimized their motion sensors for better reliability. Are there specific settings, placement tips, or troubleshooting steps that have worked well for you?
