I’ve recently dived into the world of RGB lighting and smart automation, and it’s been an incredible journey! 
I started with RGB bulbs, which instantly transformed my living space into a vibrant canvas. The ability to set different hues and brightness levels has made every room feel more dynamic and personalized. However, I also explored RGB strips and RGBIC strips, each offering unique benefits depending on the application. For instance, RGB strips are perfect for under-cabinet lighting, while RGBIC strips add a touch of elegance to my staircase.
While experimenting with these devices, I encountered a few challenges. One of my Shelly 4PM switches occasionally malfunctioned, leading to unexpected power cuts. After some research, I discovered that implementing a simple script could automate the process of rebooting the router if it goes offline. This script not only provides peace of mind but also ensures that my network remains stable even when I’m away from home.
Another interesting project I undertook was integrating my thermostat with Google Home. Although my thermostat doesn’t natively support Home Assistant, I managed to create a workaround using Google Assistant’s custom SDK. It’s been a learning curve, but seeing my thermostat now seamlessly integrated into my smart home ecosystem is incredibly rewarding.
