Exploring Smart Camera Grouping and Automation Tips

I’ve been diving into the world of smart cameras lately and wanted to share my experiences and tips with the community. Over the past few months, I’ve expanded my camera setup from 9 to 20 cameras, and it’s been quite a journey figuring out the best way to manage them all.

One of the key decisions I’ve had to make is whether to use camera grouping or keep them all separate. I’ve been experimenting with Tiny Cam Pro and Blue Iris 5, and while Blue Iris has been a bit of a learning curve, it’s starting to come together. Grouping cameras has definitely made it easier to monitor different areas of my home at once, especially when I’m away.

However, there have been some challenges. For instance, setting up consistent automations across all cameras took some trial and error. I discovered that using schedules and motion sensors together can help reduce false alerts and ensure that I’m only notified when something truly important happens.

Another thing I’ve learned is the importance of regular firmware updates. A couple of weeks ago, my system briefly went offline due to a firmware update, but it was a necessary step to ensure everything was running smoothly. It’s a good reminder to always keep an eye on those updates!

If anyone has tips or tricks for managing multiple cameras or setting up effective automations, I’d love to hear them. Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other make the most out of our smart home setups! :star2:
