Exploring Smart Camera Options and Automation Tips

Hi everyone, I’m new to the world of smart home technology and I’m really excited to dive in! I’ve been researching smart cameras for my outdoor use, and I came across a few options that I’m curious about. I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences with different models.

I’ve been looking at cameras that support WLAN and power supply, as I don’t have a PoE infrastructure set up. I’m particularly interested in how these cameras integrate with Home Assistant. Can I tap into the motion detection entities directly through HA? I’d love to receive notifications on my smartphone and have the stream automatically recorded when motion is detected.

I’ve also been exploring the idea of setting up an automation to notify me if one of my kids isn’t home by a certain time after school. School lets out at 2:45 PM, so if they’re not home by 3:15 PM, I’d like to get a notification. I’ve started drafting a basic automation but I’m not sure how to add the time component. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

On a different note, I came across a post about using Telegram webhooks for notifications, but there was an error related to a zlib issue. I’m wondering if anyone has encountered this and how they resolved it. It seems like a common issue, so any insights would be helpful.

Lastly, I’ve been impressed by the Govee RGBIC LED strip lights. They offer so many customization options and preset modes, which would be perfect for creating a vibrant atmosphere in my home. I’d love to hear if anyone else has tried these and if they’ve had any issues or standout features.

Thanks in advance for all your help and advice! I can’t wait to dive deeper into the world of smart home automation.
