Exploring Smart Camera Systems for Home Monitoring

I’ve been on a journey to set up a comprehensive camera system for my home, and it’s been quite an adventure! My goal was to create a setup that covers multiple areas, from the nursery to the backyard, all accessible from a single screen. I started with a mix of devices—Netvue Peekababy for the baby monitor, Ring cameras for the nursery and front door, and a Kasa WiFi tilt cam for outdoor coverage. However, integrating them into one cohesive system has been a bit of a challenge.

Initially, I was overwhelmed by the different apps and interfaces each device required. The idea of having everything on one screen seemed daunting, but I’ve made progress. I’ve managed to get most of the feeds onto a tablet, though I’m still exploring the best way to handle live views without timeouts. The Ring cameras are great, but their live view feature doesn’t quite fit my needs perfectly.

One of the highlights of my setup is using the FP2 Presence sensor in the nursery. It’s been a lifesaver for creating routines based on the baby’s presence. For example, when the sensor detects the baby in the bassinet, it automatically switches on the tablet’s split-screen view of the cameras. It’s a simple yet effective way to keep an eye on things without constantly checking multiple apps.

I’m still tinkering with the system, looking into ways to improve the integration and add more smart features. If anyone has tips on optimizing camera setups or suggestions for a more seamless integration, I’d love to hear them! It’s been a rewarding experience, and I’m excited to see how it evolves.
