Exploring Smart Home Automation with Broadlink IR and Temperature Control

As I delve deeper into the world of smart home automation, I’m constantly amazed by the possibilities it offers. One area that has particularly intrigued me is controlling my air conditioner using Broadlink IR codes. I currently have scripts set up for temperatures ranging from 20°C to 25°C, but I’m looking to take it a step further.

I’d love to create a switch that can increment or decrement the temperature by one degree with each press. This would be incredibly handy, especially during the colder months when I might want to adjust the temperature based on the room’s actual feel. I’m curious if there’s a component or a scripting method that can achieve this without too much hassle.

Another project I’m working on involves integrating external temperature sensors with my Homematic thermostats. I’ve successfully connected an Aqara sensor to provide temperature data, which is then used to control the heating. However, I’m struggling to replicate the functionality I had with FHEM, where I could easily set up temperature lists for different times of the year.

I’d love to hear if anyone has successfully implemented a similar setup in Home Assistant or if there’s a recommended approach to achieve this level of automation. Whether it’s through custom scripts or existing integrations, I’m eager to explore the possibilities.

On a lighter note, I stumbled upon a fantastic deal on a Siemens S35 dictaphone. It was in rough shape but fully functional, and I managed to get it up and running with a new battery. It’s a great addition to my collection of retro tech gadgets!

Overall, the journey of automating my home has been both challenging and rewarding. I’m excited to continue learning and sharing my experiences with the community. If anyone has tips or resources on these topics, I’d be grateful to hear them!
