I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation lately, and it’s been an absolute blast!
I recently picked up a few Govee devices, including their water detector and some LED strip lights, and I’ve been experimenting with integrating them into my Hubitat ecosystem. It’s amazing how these devices can transform everyday tasks into something so seamless and efficient.
One of my favorite setups so far has been using the Govee water detector in my basement. After a few minor plumbing issues last year, I wanted to be proactive about water leaks. The detector has been a lifesaver—it’s so sensitive and sends immediate alerts to my phone. I even set up a rule in Hubitat to turn on my basement lights and send a notification if it detects water. Talk about peace of mind! ![]()
I’ve also been playing around with my LED strip lights. I bought two 32.8-foot packs and was worried about syncing them, but I figured out that linking them works perfectly as long as they’re on the same network. Now, I’ve created scenes for different occasions—like a relaxing evening mode with warm tones and a vibrant party mode with colorful transitions. It’s so much fun to customize the ambiance of my space! ![]()
On the automation front, I’ve been working on setting up a rule for my door and window sensors. I want them to send an announcement if they’re open for more than 10 minutes, and then repeat every 10 minutes until they’re closed. It’s been a bit of a learning curve, but with some trial and error, I’ve got it mostly figured out. I’d love to hear if anyone has tips for making this even more reliable!
Another thing I’m excited about is exploring the potential of my Hue-compatible LED pendant lamps. They’re such a great example of how smart lighting can blend seamlessly into any decor while offering tons of functionality. I’ve been using them to create different scenes for movie nights, dinners, and even just casual reading. The color temperature and dimming options are incredible!
Overall, I’m loving how all these devices work together to create a smarter, more connected home. It’s been a fantastic journey, and I can’t wait to see what other cool projects I can tackle next!
If anyone has tips or tricks for optimizing their smart home setup, I’d love to hear them!
