I’ve recently dipped my toes into the world of smart home automation, and it’s been an absolute joy!
My journey began with upgrading my home theater setup, and I couldn’t be happier with the Logitech G305 mouse and TECURS mechanical keyboard I picked up. They’ve completely transformed my gaming experience, and the RGB lighting is a fantastic touch! ![]()

But it’s not just about gaming—smart home devices have started to play a bigger role in my daily life. I’ve been eyeing the Govee smart humidifier for a while now, and I’m curious if anyone has figured out how to get a low-water alert via text without it being an emergency shutdown. I’m decent with IFTTT, but I’m still exploring all the possibilities!
On another note, I’ve been experimenting with group controls for my lighting setup, inspired by the Philips Hue app. It’s a bit tricky, but I’ve managed to create some cool scenes using the Govee app. I’d love to hear if others have tips on simplifying group controls or automating routines based on time or motion sensors.
One thing I’m particularly excited about is the potential to integrate my smart home devices with my camper. I’ve been researching how to access my home cameras from a non-Apple device while on the go. If anyone has experience with this, I’d be thrilled to hear your setup and any challenges you’ve overcome!
Lastly, I wanted to share a fun project I’ve been working on—a DIY light strip setup for my kitchen. Using the Govee app, I’ve created a mood-music scene that changes colors based on the music playing. It’s a small touch, but it really brings the space to life! ![]()
